The woman stands, leans forward and puts her hands on a low table for support. The man penetrates her from behind.

Origin of the name
A goban is the low wooden table used for playing go. The name likens whatever the woman braces her hands on to a go board being "assaulted" from behind — in practice any table or headboard will do, which is exactly why this position has stayed popular since the Edo period (1603–1868).
Tips
Pick a surface slightly lower than hip height so the lean-forward angle comes naturally. The woman keeps her arms straight and arches her back; the man holds her hips with both hands to keep the rhythm. With something to hold onto, this is the most stable of the standing rear-entry positions — a good first step into standing play.
